Welcome to the Leichhardt Dog Training Club. We are an incorporated,
non-profit organization that runs dog obedience training classes on most Sundays for people with puppies (from 16 weeks) and adult dogs. We use positive reinforcement and rewards-based training techniques as we have found this method of training leads to better understanding, trust and respect between owner and dog. Our grounds are located at the Hawthorne Canal Reserve in Leichhardt.
All of our Instructors are volunteers and avid dog enthusiasts.

After completing the two introduction sessions, you will progress into Class 1. Thereafter, progression through each level to Class 4 is by tests for promotion.

The Club trains in an off-leash dog park so there will be times when there are distractions, i.e. a dog, a ball or even a child runs through class. Use these distractions as a fun training exercise. It is important to be able to handle and manage your dog regardless of distractions.

NEW MEMBER applications will only be accepted in-person on the FIRST and THIRD Sundays of each month. Places are allocated on a first-come basis and are limited to 15. See Class Content for details.

Class cancellations due to extreme weather will be posted on our Facebook page only. We endeavour to post as early as possible to avoid unnecessary travel. We train in an outdoor public park which is subject to flooding, so cancellations after extended or intense periods of rain are not uncommon.
